ADHDean -
Just starting the initial process for TriJam#210. I'm into the concept the Jam is designed for, which is basically building on a better planning and focusing on being efficient for development. As of now I am still in the drafting/concepting phase, as soon as I have everything together I will initiate my '3 hour development' session.
I also intend to take this time to get more familiar with Unity and a few assets I've acquired from the asset store on some good deals. This way I can take this time to get more familiar with the dev environment and get into a smooth workflow.
As of now I have create my initial design draft for the game:
ADHD - 2D distraction game where the player has to pay attention to lessons while being distracted by objects the environment.
> Using Unity
> Using at least 2 of my assets
Objective
> Get rid of the distractions by attending to them when they come up - learn bar goes up while paying attention, lesson bar stops when attending to a distraction.
> Once a distraction comes up needing attention the learn bar stops.
> Once the distraction needs are met, the learn bar continues.
Scenario
> User (student) sitting in classroom while teacher is giving lessons
Distractions - items that call a need for attention - when an item doesn't get attention health goes down ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
> Fidget spinner
> Phone
> Board writing imagination (tic-tac-toe/arrows)
> pen clicker
> Popper
Music
> Simple beat with teacher talking in rythm
Mechanics
> Select/press environment items, repeatedly, and gain Attentio-meter points until it is full
> Attentio-meter - a gauge showing the fulfillment need of item usage.
> Items randomly flash/shake when need attention
UI/Graphics
> HUD - Lesson learn bar
> HUD - Attentio-meter graphic
> Items that need attention blink/shake
Unity Assets - Making practical use of at least 2(3) acquired assets from the unity store
> Archimatix Pro
> Better UI
====================================================================================================================
DEV TODOs
> Create scenes (Menu, Game , Game Over)
> Create HUD/UI
> Create Assets
> Write interactions
> Add music
I intend to get more into the details of the mechanics and development planning as my next steps.
